Representatives vote the Law for Sexual Health and Reprodution Today the Chamber of Representatives vote the Law for Sexual Health and Reproduction, which includes an Article about allowing abortion by the only will of the women. This Law was being discussed in severl sessions of the Health Comittee of the Representatives since 2005. In 2005 president Tabaré Vázquez already stated that he would put a veto on the abortion article if same is approved. Since then he never mentioned this Law again. Due to comments it is foreseeable that the Law will be approved with this Article. To put a veto, the president need one signature of one of the ministers and it is already known, that the Minister of Health, also a doctor in medicine, will sign the veto. Even the bishop of Montevideo said that all Representatives who vote this Article, will be excomulgated immediately and that he personally will be in charge to inform the Vatican about the excomulgations and get them approved. During today's session two groups will be organizing manifestations in front of the Congress. One Group, ProVida (ProLife) will support the rejection of this article, and the other group will be manifesting supporting the article. It is known that all Representatives of the government party will support this Law, inlcuding the Abortion Article and therefore same would be approved.
